UTCs are a national family of almost 50 state-funded schools that offer a distinctively different educational choice from other schools. They offer a secondary-age education for Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (usually age 14-18) with some starting earlier at Key Stage 3. By recruiting at age 14, UTCs provide a fresh-start for many young people in a supportive, smaller school environment.

UTCs are more than just a school. As well as providing a strong grounding in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, each UTC has one or more technical specialism linked to their local industry partners. The curriculum provides a blend of academic and technical learning, with balance appropriate to each Key Stage. Programmes of study demonstrate high academic and technical ambition for all pupils, building the vital employability skills, personal values and professional behaviours required by UTC leavers for rapid progression into the UTC’s target technical sector. UTCs invest in young people’s enthusiasm and aptitude for science, maths and technology, and in doing so accelerate their progression to a career in a technical field. In turn this progression will feed the talent pipeline into UTCs’ target technical sectors.

A work placement is your opportunity to spend a period of time outside the classroom, learning about a particular job or area of work. Work experience can help you decide on your options for after year 11 and beyond. You will also get the chance to develop and show evidence of vital skills such as self-confidence, communication, independence and a variety of others, depending on what kind placement you do.

The college website is updated on a regular basis. We also use our social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to send out snippets of current/upcoming school information. We are also going to be writing blog articles as indeed are your children! We aim to share and celebrate as many of the varied activities that the children and staff engage in as we can.

We have also added a  calender event system to our website that will be populated with all major events from term times to day trips, parent evenings and any shows or events that students and or parents are going to be involved in.

We have a very active Student Voice group who meet each week. The student voice are elected members of each class. You can read more about the the activities of this group by visiting the School Council information page.

We welcome all children regardless of their nationality. We have several children who have joined our college unable to speak English. We have several members of staff who are trained in supporting children who are new to the UK.

We do have bike racks for students to lock up their bike. We ask parents to ensure student have suitable locks, so the bike can be locked. The college does not take any responsibility for any loss or damage,
