On 16th of March, the Year 10 students learned about apprenticeship and the World of Work when they participated at the Apprenticeship Event hosted by Sandwell College. They met up with key local employers and exhibitors. As soon as the students arrived, they were ushered into the Main Hall where they were given a presentation on the skills and attributes employers look for in potential employees. The presentation included a talk by a former student of the College who successfully went through the apprenticeship programme. Students were also given tips on how they could write a “winning CV” as well as interview practice. There were a range of workshops where students were given the opportunity to be involved. They particularly enjoyed the motor vehicle workshop, where they observed apprentices in action repairing and welding cars. A selection of the students also had a few minutes relaxation in a mock up airline cabin. Although it was a flying visit, the students were equipped with information and ideas to help them to start thinking about the next steps in their lives.
