Work Placement Programme
All sixth form students successfully complete the work placement programme which is linked to their programme of study. Applied learning is at the heart of everything we do. They will have direct experience of the workplace together with qualifications which demonstrate their level of ability. In today’s competitive job market, employers are looking for more than just highly qualified individuals. They want young people who have relevant industry experience.
All students spend upto 8 hours a week in a workplace. Students will gain first-hand experience of the working world where they are able to learn how things are done in industry. Students will become fully integrated part time members of staff who will develop skills to work independently on tasks assigned to them
Throughout all of their work experience placements, students will be supported by their Personal Coach who will visit them to monitor their progress and to ensure they are effectively demonstrating the CREATE skills.
WSC gives students the choices they deserve for their future career. At the end of the level 3 courses, students will be able to apply for a place at university or move into full time employment.
Feedback from our students
Kawkab Kehkasha Year 12
WSC offered BTEC in Health and Social Care which is the course I wanted for a career in medicine.
The whole process of applying for was easy and straight forward. I had support and everything was explained to me. I wanted to stay in a smaller environment similar to a school and that is what WSC has given me.
There is lots of help from the teachers and I am not afraid to ask for help. All the teachers are really approachable.
Iesha Bibi Year 12
I am autistic and need extra support. WSC has given me the support to help with my education and deal with my condition.
I want to follow a career in medicine and WSC offered the best courses for me. Other schools and colleges do not offer level 3.
The teachers who specialise in their subjects have been a great help. They understand how to help you. One to one support has really helped me achieve a better grade. Teachers are always willing to give their time.
The work placements we do one day a week have been invaluable and has given us a taste of the real world of work.
