A very successful and engaging Diversity Day here at Waverley Studio College. The focus of the day was based on ‘keeping children safe and educating students about their rights as a child’. The Waverley Education Foundation is working towards gaining recognition for the Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA). The day was spent supporting the United Nations Charity – Unicef. A charity that works across the globe in providing shelter, education, care and support for children within schools as well as outside.
Our pupils took part in many activities which concluded with them presenting and show casing their work in an end of day assembly. Pupils were really engaged and took ownership of the activities set in place. Some of these activities included pupils making their own T-shirts, a collaborative piece of art work, understanding the 24 hour day of a child who has to experience child labour, poster designs and creating masks/poetry to emphasise the child labour that is taking place across the world.
Below are some photographs showing the pupils success.
